Alexz Johnson – Interview by @tomtshane

By @tomtshane

First off I personally would like to congradulate you on “Voodoo Reloaded”  its given us more ways to enjoy “Voodoo” all over again! I happened to get to your Drake show and must say that was an unforgettable night of old and new jams, I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it as you probably seen I posted the full concert for you and all your fans to get to enjoy. Thank you for an amazing night! and Thank you for this interview, It means so much to me and the fans 🙂

1.  Tell us about the first day of being on set and shooting the video?

It was good! I loved having the band a part of the video.

2.  All the the fans noticed at the Drake show your hair was now brown (gorgeous by the way) did you change it for the video?

Thank you! I changed it for a change… I’ve been feeling more brunette these days. Thought I’d give it a go.

3.  Going into the process of making the video did you have visions of what you wanted it to be like?

I did initially had a few visions. I then received a stellar treatment from Jason Romolo of HeartstringsTV and immediately wanted to connect with him and work out a concept.

4.  What made you choose “Look At Those Eyes” as your next video?

It’s a special song to me, and it felt like the right time to get it out there.

5.  Were there any (Blooper) moments on set?

Nothing too crazy but definitely some funny moments. I’m editing together some behind the scenes footage now.

6.  Your band also known as “The Beds” were in the video, how was it having them apart of the video and your live shows?

They’re such solid guys and great musicians. Having them a part of the live process this year has been really special for me.

7.  HeartStrings TV was also apart of the video how was it working with them?

They’re professional, efficient and they’re doing it for the love of film and music. Which is always fantastic.

8.  What do you hope for the fans to take from the song and video?

I hope they take something. Whatever that is… I hope t emotes a feeling, hopefully of strength and courage.

9.  I saw your tweet about Lev Lewis having a Americano, did you have any favorite drinks on set?

Water! Green tea, and an afternoon Americano if I can find one.. 🙂

10.  I know you love clothes as much as I do, what was the choice of fashion on set for the video?

30’s meets current.

11.  I get the chills from “Look At Those Eyes” when I hear it, I feel it has a dark side to it, can we expect to see that in the video?

The video will be a little darker.. I’m still waiting to see the first edit to get a real grasp of what Jason’s been visualizing on his end. We went for a more sombre tone on this one.

12.  You seem to have a place in your heart for Toronto, I know this is your second video shot here, is there any special connections to Toronto?

I grew up in Vancouver, so that feels like home. Toronto has been great on an indie front for me. I love travelling and I never know where I’ll actually end up. The world’s our oyster!

13.  Describe the second day of shooting and your overall experience with everyone on set?

Long day… but I feel we got what we were looking for. Everyone was awesome and I’m glad the video is coming to be.

14.  I have to ask this, at the Drake show there was a moment when you started to sing “Seasons Of Love” from the musical “Rent”, are you a big fan of musicals and “Rent”?

Haha! I’ve actually never seen Rent on Broadway… but I do love the music.

15.  What are 3 bands that you could not live without?

The Police

The Beatles (of course)

ELO

I hope you do

How much support I get from you

You give me strength to carry on

I put you into every song..  🙂

From: @ALEXZJfan  –  Alexz have you ever had the feeling of not being good enough at something? if so, what did you do to overcome it?

I don’t curse… 😉
