So what is The Charter Project?

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a set of principles guaranteeing rights to Canadian citizens, and in some cases, to everyone in Canada. The Charter is a part of the Constitution Act, 1982, which is part of the Canada Act, 1982 which was signed by Queen Elizabeth II on April 17, 1982 in Ottawa. This gave Canada control over its Constitution. The guarantee of rights and freedoms in the Charter became part of the supreme law of the land.
