You might as well call her an indie queen being that she\u2019s held her ground in the industry for over a decade. Today, the singer releases her highly-anticipated new album, A Stranger Time, offering listeners a deeper look inside her mind while maintaining her classic, soulful vocal prowess we\u2019ve all fallen in love with.<\/p>\n

01. \u201cBreathe\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nThe was the first song I wrote for A Stranger Time. I was really vibing on some Prince material and even though \u201cBreathe\u201d sounds nothing like Prince, he oddly inspired this track for me\u2026fact.<\/p>\n
02. \u201cCareless\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nThis song is the oldest track on the album. I wrote it a few years ago actually, around the time I wrote \u201cAmerican Dreamer\u201d and \u201cNothin\u2019 On Me.\u201d I hung onto it knowing it would find a home someday. It\u2019s about the pain we cause others in order to grow ourselves; usually we do this in our youth. We are reckless and careless with other peoples hearts, but it\u2019s still an important step to growth.<\/p>\n
03. \u201cAftermath\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nThis is probably my personal favorite track. It\u2019s the aftermath of mistakes we make. Big or small\u2026things that stay with us for the rest of our lives. The fragility of our time here.<\/p>\n
04. \u201cRight Now\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nThis song was inspired by the state of the world right now. It\u2019s literally a musical manifest of this time. I didn\u2019t want it to be too specific because I know people have their own versions of what\u2019s happening in their lives. This track led to me naming the album A Stranger Time.<\/p>\n
05. \u201cNever Love Me Back\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nI believe you never really stop loving someone just because you\u2019re not with them. I think this is across the board with all relationships. They can change, but you carry them with you. Mother and son, brother and sister, and lovers. I feel I love some people in my life from afar without needing anything in return.

\n06. \u201cRun For Your Life\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nThis song was written for the wild wolf in all of us. 😉 It\u2019s how we play with power and the danger of the nightlife.<\/p>\n
07. \u201cMan Like You\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nI think this one is pretty self explanatory. Let\u2019s just say it\u2019s for the special men out there who love their ladies right.<\/p>\n
08. \u201cDangerous Mind\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nI wanted this song to be like you were listening to someone\u2019s secrets; someone who felt dangerous. Someone who wanted to just get in their car and drive without any destination or reason. Freedom, escape and inevitable pain \u2013 regardless \u2013 we only live once.<\/p>\n
09. \u201cSay Goodbye\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nWe recorded this immediately after we heard of Leonard Cohen\u2019s passing. It was one take, recorded live in the kitchen. It\u2019s a song about letting go, moving on, and just saying goodbye, which can be the hardest thing we\u2019ll ever have to do.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
