Voodoo — Remixed??

So the news has finally dropped. Thought I couldn’t keep a secret anymore. But now it’s out in the open: Alexz is re-releasing Voodoo as a remix album.

A lot of people are suddenly thinking of Voodoo as a failure. People think that just because it didn’t blow up and hit radio it failed. But that’s really not the case here. The fact that Voodoo is even in stores is partly a miracle. After having Epic songs yanked from underneath her, it took a LOT to get back in the studio and start from scratch.

Don’t think of the remixed album as a second try at the album. Think of it as getting bonuses of whats there now. People have the mindset of “why am I gonna go buy that, when Voodoo was just a flop?”. But under NO circumstance was Voodoo a flop. We got to hear these songs. Alexz shared her passion and her soul with us.

The problem, had two parts. The first part was that the songs weren’t “radio friendly”. But these days, that’s so hard to capture. Voodoo might’ve blow up and had massive listening, but for some reason it didn’t. The second part was Alexz doesn’t have mass promo. It’s hard. She was mostly going on reviews, and fans. And I feel that we, as fans, tried, but not hard enough. We just couldn’t get her out there enough.

I’m really hoping that with the remix album, we can get Alexz on the radio. But we really need to work it. And we need to mass promote her, with planning, and actual execution of plans. Let’s all hope for the best!

I completely agree Katie 🙂 We, her fans, need to mass promote her. Get her out there. Get her music out there. Let the public know about her and why her and her music touch us so much.

I thought and still think “Voodoo” is an incredible album!
At first I was kinda torn about the re-release, but now I think hey what is better than having to different versions of the songs?
I trust Alexz and Demo with the choice they make.
I’m just concerned that it well does not walk on the same lines Alexz had visioned “Voodoo” to be.
And it was definitive not a flop, I mean If I go to 4 stores 2 of em tell me her ALbum has sold out very quickly and they get requests, and the other two have only 1 or 2 copies left, it tells me it was not a flop.
And comparing the Epic and Voodoo album is the dumbest thing someone can do, they are so different from one another.
So done ranting, I agree with u Katie 🙂
