Manchester Fan Account
Thanks to Nigel for this account of Alexz’s concert in Mancheter yesterday:
“When she said she was going to tour Europe & it included the U.K. I was amazed because alexz is unknown here, I’ve tried my best in promoting her to family, friends & my carers, & thankfully it included Manchester which is about 60 miles from me. Getting there was a bit fraught because of the traffic, fortunately my son & his fiancée went too Manchester university so they knew where the Academy was.
When we arrived there was about 100 people already there, we found at the side there was a ramp going up to the stage, they pushed me up there & I had a clear view unfortunately alexz was to the left of centre, but I had the best view. She came on to a loud applause said Hi I’m Alexz Johnson & she started singing Thief which went down well, then she said this is my new 1 which is available at the back then she sang American dreamer which received an even louder applause, she then sang Walking, from where I was seated I could hear that I was the only 1 singing along with her. The applause got even louder she then talked about the weather & that she was from Brooklyn, not true thought I your from Vancouver. After that she sang Thank you for breaking my heart, which got a very loud long applause, I could hear people saying WOW ! she can really sing ! what a good voice. After that she sang Skipping stone which drove the crowd wild, they were cheering & shouting out by then, then the worst part, she said this is the last song & she went into Mary which nearly lifted the roof off with the thunderous applause, she then said she would be at the back selling merchandise.
We decided to go to the back to see if we could meet her, we eventually got through the throng of people about 200-250 by now, as we went to the rear I realised she was right in front of me going up another ramp, I called out Alexz ! Alexz ! she turned round & I said I’m Nigel one of your fans a pledger & a kickstarter, she said I didn’t think anyone knew me here, I said I do & I showed her my pledge receipt , she said come overhere where its a bit quieter, by then Ron Pope had started his set. We followed her & started talking about her visit here &I said how happy I was that she had come here & that I thought I would never ever meet her to say thank you for coming, thank you for the music & I’ve everything she’s released on cd & dvd she asked how have you got them because I’m unknown here, I said I’ve had to import the early stuff but some of her recent cd’s are available here, she then gave me a signed ep with my name & a thanks for pledging written on it, we then took some photo’s , she put her arm round my shoulder, I cant believe it alexz has touched me, when you see her on the screen it does not do her justice she is stunningly beautiful in looks & in her nature, she came across as being a very nice human being, we then realised a queue had formed behind us so we send our goodbye’s & thanks again, we then set off home, the next day I tweeted her to say thanks for the concert & she tweeted back to say thanks for coming & thanks for pledging.”
