Confirmed: New Single Announcement
We can finally confirm that the new single off of Voodoo Reloaded is Boogie Love! Read below for the full story at inDiscover.
It has been 9 months since the release of Alexz Johnson’s highly anticipated debut solo album, Voodoo.
11 original tracks graced the album, each pushing her further away from her Instant Star character and categorizing her as a talented singer-songwriter with a will to share her music with an international audience.
“Trip Around the World” was released as the first single off of the album and a music video was shot in New Orleans, Louisiana, directed by Michael Maxxis (Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Sweet Thing).
At the end of summer 2009, it was announced that Demo Castellon (Timbaland, Madonna, Missy Elliott) would take on a new project: remixing the entire Voodoo album and releasing it as a new collection of songs.
The remix album will contain all 11 songs that were on the original album. Boogie Love, Voodoo’s last track, will be the first single off the album, which is set to be released in March 2011.
The original Boogie Love was upbeat and fun, an undeniable party-starter, but the remixed song is something that will be unforgettable! Set to be released in January, the music video was shot mid-December in Toronto.
Disco infused with rhythmic bass and those same fun lyrics, Boogie Love shows off Alexz’s fun side and breaks the mold of current mainstream pop.
Boogie Love, the video, opens with Alexz on stage in a club. It paints a picture of a typical late 70s/early 80s disco setting, complete with backup singers and a dancefloor full of dancing queens.
We then see a room, littered with remnants of a party from the night before. Glasses toppled over, people lying on the floor, still asleep. Alexz sits in the centre of a couch, calm and cool, looking like a young Michelle Pfeiffer from Scarface.
They take us back in time to watch how the night unfolded. Alexz is back in the club, looking beautiful as always, wearing a 70s printed flowing top and belting out the tune with a ‘come-here-and-party’ look in her eye.
“Where’s Ben?” she asks as she sits in her changeroom backstage, as her backup singer stands behind her. It’s too bad he gets off work at 10 because he is going to miss the beginning of what’s sure to be one big party!
Alexz walks past a line of people; the ladies glare, the men stare…she doesn’t care if she doesn’t get their love…she’s got music!
She finishes the song on-stage, with people dancing around her, guitarists strumming and lights flashing.
Directed by Aaron “A” Bertrand (Nelly Furtado, James Morrisson, Emily Osment), the music video is edgy and fun, and this modern take on the disco era is definitely something that will hit the music video scene with great force.
Stay Tuned for more details about the release of Boogie Love!
