inDiscover is doing their Top 10 moments of 2010. The release of our girl’s Voodoo album came in at number 3!
Alexz Johnson released her debut solo album ‘Voodoo’ on March 30, 2010 (digitally on March 9) through Orange Lounge Recordings and inDiscover Recordings.
She began writing for the album in mid-2009. Alexz teamed up with guitarist Tim Welch once again after previously working with him on several of the songs she had recorded for Instant Star.
In October 2009, it was announced that, due to overwhelming fan response, “Trip Around The World” would be the first single from the record. While putting the final touches on the album, Johnson flew to New Orleans in January for the filming of the music video with music video director Michael Maxxis.
On July 11, Alexz announced to the fans that Demo Castellon and his team (The Demolition Crew) were working on new versions of the songs on Voodoo. The original plan was just to remix Trip Around the World but shortly after it was announced that all tracks on the album will be remixed.

Moment #7 is Alexz’s Skype call to Carley Hutchinson. Read about it below.
Towards the end of the summer we launched inD Covers: Alexz Johnson, a competition where fans could submit videos of themselves singing along to one of three Alexz Johnson karaoke tracks.
Fans with the most votes landed a Finalist spot and Alexz chose the winner after watching all finalists’ videos.
Carley Hutchinson came out on top with her rendition of Voodoo.
Alexz and Carley had a one-on-one Skype call where Alexz answered questions, spoke about getting into the industry as well as performed her unreleased song Mary.
