Taker is Alexz Johnson’s Song of the Month for February as chosen by the fans.

The song is off of her debut album Voodoo, which was released on March 9, 2010.

We’ve had fan opinions about the track and you’ve been able to sing along with lyrics provided by Robby, now, Alexz talks about how Taker came to be.

Brendan had the music already written and I remember coming down to the studio and hearing this awesome melody.. I started free-styling over the verse until we found something rhythmic that we liked. We sort of did the same thing with the chorus. Very minimal. Bren left the bridge empty and first until 3 months later we added more.

When we added it onto the “Voodoo” album, we rewrote the bridge and added a tag lyric at the end of the chorus.

It’s always been a really fun song to play live as we’ve felt there’s something a bit anthemic about it.

Taker has been remixed for the Reloaded album, due out Spring 2011.

Fans will be pleasantly surprised to hear the remixed song, with it’s much heavier beat and military inspired rhythm.

Stay tuned for Alexz’s March poll for song of the month!
