Alexz Johnson Island

Alexz held another round of “Ask Alexz” tonight. She answered a lot of questions. We got what inspired a few songs in the mix. I’m going to try to hit all the highlights of this below:

**Running With The Devil is about “about a close friends struggle with pain and bad choices.”
**Would she ever sign to a Major label again? “It all would all have to depend on a lot of things. Who was involved, the passion.. I’m really happy with my freedom.”
**She’s currently listening to Foster The People, Matt Nathanson, and Goyte.
**The theme of her “Skipping Stone” EP is “Love, heartbreak and strength”.
**The EP will have 5 tracks.
**What is your most favorite song you’ve ever written? “That’s a tough one.. Skipping Stone, Weight, or Shout… so far.”
**Have you ever considered college? “Interesting question.. of course I have. It’s a constant weighing between passion and protocol I guess?”
**Other than music and fan related things, what’s something that sincerely makes you happy? “Family and kids, friends and food, yoga and cozy sweaters.”
**Any chance of us hearing Medusa one day? or maybe you can tell us something about it? “To be honest, it’s not really where my head’s at musically right now, but you never know I guess!”
**She wishes she was great playing the piano.
**How do get inspired and what is your songwriting process like? “I’m not quite sure where they come from sometimes… I listen back and think, “Did that just come from my hand and pencil?””
**”Mr. Mail Man” is inspired from a past manager
**She misses Instant Star.
**What was your inspiration for your song Weight? “Watching someone close to me go through some heavy personal battles. I just wanted to carry it all.”
**Some time in the future you got planned to change your music style? “I tend to write what I’m feeling, and I always change… so I expect my music to change with me as I grow..”
**The things she loves about Christmas are “Family, Chocolate, and fireplaces! (& Giving!)”
