So I’m really just doing this so I can relive the best night ever! On Saturday Aug,4th me and my best friend Sam headed to Nashville to see Alexz Johnson on the skipping Stone tour! Which in its self was a dream because we never in a million years thought she’d come to Nashville or anywhere close to us! We left Bowling Green, KY around 3:00 or so because we weren’t totally sure we knew where we were going. So we start making the trek to Nashville and thanks to Sam’s lovely phone we ended up in West Nashville (A.K.A dark blue Tennessee for Taylor swift fans) So after we had a fan girl moment on being in the place that inspired one of our favorite songs we got back on the interstate and finally made our way to 12 and porter. When we got there we pulled into the parking lot behind the venue and had a small freak out because we seen alexz’s van. Then we had a even bigger moment when we seen alexz walk across the street. We just looked at each other and was like did that really just happen, did we really just see her?
After a few more minutes we got out of the car, grabbed the posters that we had made and walked up to the front of the venue. When we got to the front we met Robby, who if people don’t know is one of the biggest fans ever and runs a awesome Alexz Fan site! The three of us was standing there when alexz came out and walked over to us said hi, high-fived us and told us she’d see us later. Which led to another OMG moment for sam and me. The next couple hours was spent talking to Robby as he told us stories of all the other tour stops he had been to since he had been following the tour from the first date. After what felt like forever they started letting the VIP’s in, which I was sadly Sam wasn’t so she had to go stand in the GA line. Once we got inside, Robby let me go in front of him, which meant I was first in line to meet Alexz!!
Which anyone who knows me knows what a huge moment this was. Alexz is the reason I picked up a guitar and started chasing music in the first place and her music got me through a lot of tough times. When I seen her come out my mind totally went blank I didn’t know what to say, I mean what do you say when one of your idols is right there. I walked over and she said hi, and I think I said hi back lol I was so nervous. I told her how much meeting her meant to me, and then I handed her the letters that Sam and I had wrote her and she said that it was so sweet that we wrote her letters. Then I asked her to sign Sam’s Instant Star DVD and I had her sign my Voodoo shirt, which she said ‘oh cool’ and signed it. Then I got my picture taken with her, which was taken by Jessica, which lead to another fan girl moment because I love her pictures! Once I met her I moved over to the front of the stage, while I waited for Sam to get inside I talked to a lot of different people and we were all talking about how we came to love alexz and how far we had come to see the show. There were even some people that drove from Texas just for the show.
Finally around 8:40 Sam got inside with our posters. Then the show started and it was amazing! I’ve completely fallen in love with the opening act Allison Veltz she’s amazing and so adorable can’t wait to buy her cd! And we got a special treat; during her part Allison brought out Misty Boyce (Alexz’s Keyboardist) and Alexz To sing the pistol Annie’s song ‘hell on heels’, which made my night even more awesome because I’m a longtime Miranda Lambert Fan (for people who don’t know Pistol Annies is the girl group that Miranda has started). After Allison finished her set it was time for Alexz!
The show was amazing!! It was so surreal to finally see her on stage, my fave songs to see live had to be Chicago, Mary, Shout and Running with Devil because I’ve loved those forever and to see them live was mind blowing! Half way through the concert I held one of the signs we had made the one that said ‘we’re best friends because of Alexz’ in front of me. Halfway through the song she read the sign and came over to our side of the stage and sang the rest of the song. Later during another song I held up our second sign which was a two sided sign that said ‘Keep clam because Alexz is on tour’ on one side and then the back said ‘Freak out because we’re at the skipping stone tour!” I held up the freak out side and then at the end of the song alexz pointed to the poster and said it was the cutest thing ever! That made our night!!
After the concert ended we hung back and talked to Robby while we waited for the line to go down, so that Sam could meet alexz since she hadn’t had a meet and greet ticket. While we waited on the line, Robby helped us get out freak out poster signed by the band and then we made our way to Alexz’s table. I introduced Sam to her, letting her know this is the friend that I was talking about earlier. Then we asked if she could our sign one of our posters and we wanted to give her the other one because without her, me and Sam would have never met so it was important to us that she have the sign that said we were best friends because of us.
And then she said ‘oh I love these I need a photo!” so she pulled out her phone and took a picture of them and said ‘these are going on instagram!’ then Sam talked to her for a few minutes and got her picture taken with her!
And then we headed back to the car, a few minutes later I was playing on twitter and we seen that alexz tweeted ‘Thank you Nashville for a great show! Forgot to snap an audience shot tonight..’ and there was our Posters!!
It was the best night ever! One that we’re not going to forgot anytime soon!
