The best day of my life…

On 8/13/12 I finally had the chance to see Alexz Johnson, and also to meet her. It’s something I’ve waited for over 7 years for. The first time I ever saw her on tv, and heard her sing was in 2001. It wasn’t until I was reintroduced in 2005 and Instant Star that I completely fell in love with her and her music. So this is my concert story:

Originally, the venue never had VIP tickets listed to be available until the day before the concert. So not only did I have two regular tickets, I then bought two VIP tickets. Oh well, it was worth the cost. So VIP got to go in early and watch sound check/rehearsal. Even then she, and the band, sounded amazing. I couldn’t help but clap when they were done.

When rehearsal was done, she jumped right off the stage, and came over to me first. I had so many feelings coming over me at that time. Nervous, excited, I felt like it was a dream. She took my friend and I over to a booth so we could sit and chat. Right away I wanted to show her my tattoo, and explain how I got it. She loved it to say the least. It was funny because she called to her friend/photographer and said “Jess! Another one!” I told her the other one was my friend Ken, which she thought was pretty cool. I asked her to sign the paper with the original writing with it on. She asked for my name and as soon as I got out my first name she asked, “Izzy Pool?” I was shocked! She then said how she saw me post online. That was just one of many great moments. We talked for a few minutes, about how happy I was to finally meet her, and just about Seattle and the cool things there. (The outfit she wore during the show she got at a vintage store in Seattle.) As much as I wanted to keep talking I backed off before I took too much time, and let her get on to the other people there. After she finished her one-on-ones, we all talked as a big group which was a lot of fun. She then said her goodbyes, for now, to eat and get ready for the show to start.

The opening acts were pretty good. I had never heard of either of them before, so it’s always nice to get introduced into new musicians. When she came on stage though, the whole crowd lit up. People were taking pictures and singing along, and everyone from the fans to Alexz and her band just looked so happy. On the second song, Give Me Fire, Alexz had taken the mic off the stand and was walking/dancing around the stage. During the chorus she came right up to me, bent down, and turned the mic right to my mouth to have me sing the next line. Now I’ve seen her turn the mic to the crowd before, but this was to only me. I was so happy at that moment, that I felt like I was going to cry. I mean, I got to freaking sing with Alexz Johnson! This was one of the best moments of my life. The rest of the concert was flawless. Alexz made sure to engage the fans, and even bent down and sang right to my phone as I was recording a video. This concert was just so much fun.

When it was over she went to the merch table to sign things. I had gotten a setlist, a merch poster, and one of only 3 venue posters in the window. (The other two were taken by another girl, Arianna, and Alexz herself.) We chatted a little again at the table since we were at the end of the line. I don’t know how many times I said thank you for letting me sing with her. She seemed so happy that it had meant that much to me. Whats great about her is you can see her eyes light up and just how happy she gets when she has a chance to connect with her fans in person. When it was finally time to leave, I said goodbye and told her she had to come back to Seattle again.

I would definitely give this night an ∞/10. Not only did I meet someone who inspires me, makes great music, and is literally the sweetest person in the world, but I also met some cool fans from around the area. I can’t wait until I see her again.
