Hot off the heels of her first U.S. tour, singer-songwriter Alexz Johnson is releasing a remix of ‘Give Me Fire’ from her Skipping Stone ep, a dance version by New York-based DJ Robert Lux.

“Being the most up-beat song off the Skipping Stone EP, I thought it would be a cool challenge to see what Robert could do with it,” Johnson explained. “We wanted it to be super unique and vibe-y.”

Lux took that instruction to heart, using tracks like Scissor Sisters “Any Which Way’ and The Bee Gee’s “You Should be Dancing for inspiration.
“I wanted this remix to have a danceable energy without being overly synthetic and electronic,” he told NewNowNext. “I also wanted to re-imagine Alexz’s energy as a singer, away from the almost doo-wop, pop-energy of the original, and turn it into something darker and more serious, more late-night.”

Lux, whos’s had the opportunity to spin his new remix when he DJs around New York City, says the track is already getting greate reactions from partiers. You can judge for yourself – the song is available for download on iTunes now, or you can listen exclusively below!
