Alexz Johnson; is a Canadian singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. Her blend of great work ethic and incredible passion for music, is what makes her stick out amongst the crowd. In addition to love for music, she has had success in Film and TV over the years as well. Alexz, accomplished a Kickstarter campaign in which she raised funds to support her U.S. touring debut, The Skipping Stone Tour, this past summer. Pruvology fortunate enough to have an interview with Alexz Johnson. Enjoy!
Q: Describe Alexz Johnson’s ambition?
Interesting question… My ambition must be to create something that’s new and never been created before and sharing it with people in hopes to move them in some way. It allows an opportunity to make less distance between one another.
Q: What made you want to become a music artist?
Since a very young age, I realized that when I sang, people would listen to me. Which was a big deal being in the middle of a family of 10 siblings. Music sort of picked me to be honest.. I came with it.
Q: What is something unique/interesting that most people wouldn’t know about Alexz Johnson?
I can’t whistle. My cupboard has many, many vitamins. I can run any marathon you put in front of me.
Q: Tell us about your work ethic and how you achieve small and large goals?
Consistency on even the worst of days. I’ve been told I don’t procrastinate and just get things done in the moment.
Q: Are you currently working on anything new that people should be on the look out for?
I’m writing a lot in this time for my next album. Focusing on getting on another tour and I have some upcoming shows here in NYC and Boston that I’m excited about.
Q: What are some of your most recent achievements?
Wrapping up my first US tour with a full band. It was a lot of work, but so incredibly rewarding. I learned so much putting it together. Plus, a song I recently wrote that moves me!
Q: What motivates Alexz Johnson when preforming on stage and making music?
Music, period. I love music.
Q: Do you have any advice for other music artist out there with the same hopes and aspiration’s?
Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t do it. You can do and be whatever you want to be. You just need to be willing to put in the legwork, and also manage your expectations.
