Alexz is both on vocal rest and fighting a cold 🙁 Despite not feeling her best she gave us over an hour long Twitter Q&A #AskAlexz. There is a lot to work through. Below are the highlights.
**She will be performing new material on the tour. This includes song(s) from The Basement Recordings albums.
**Favorite Movie Lately: Les Miserables
**She would love a role on the HBO show Girls.
**One of The Basement Recordings 3 tracks is “At Your Door”
**When you were little, did you like shool? “I did, but I got bullied when I was young because I went red faced so easily.. and I had braces (headgear) and stuttered.”
**She usually cuts her own hair.
**She hopes to do a European tour after she finishes recording her new album.
**What are your favorite foods? “Mexican, Indian and Japanese.. and ethiopian & pho…”
**Will you write a love song to almonds? “How do you know I haven’t already?”
**Favorite place in the world? “hugging my Mom and the smell of her perfume.”
**It’s the end of the world & you can only eat one more thing. What would it be? “Almond butter on an almond cookie dipped in godiva chocolate sauce. What?”
**How her next tour, merch, and record are going to be funded is being worked out right now.
**What is the best life lesson you would give someone? Or have been told yourself? “Love always wins!”
**How do you pass time in the van between tour stops and long drives? “I sleep or snack on almonds.”
**If you were on Mad Men what kind of character would you want to play? “A character with many many boyfriends.”
**Do you still speak to anyone from the cast of So Weird? “@MackPhillips and I are overdue for a catch up! I still keep in touch with Patrick as well!”
**Who did you work on Guns n Roses with? “Tim Kellett, mostly known for his work with Simply Red.”
**What do you do to prepare for a show? ” I drink tea.. practice and warm up my vocals… and say a little prayer for how thankful I am to do what I do.”
**Have you ever think in edit your own music video? “I have! I edited the documentary that’s available on my website. I really enjoy editing..”
**How long will Skipping Stone Tour Merch be available for? “I’m bringing the remainder of the Skipping Stone tour merch on this next tour with me… there’s not much left!”
**Do u listen to yourself? “I listen mostly to critique and think of production ideas”
**What was your favorite venue to play on the U.S. tour? “I loved Schuba’s and Brick and Mortar.”
**She still plans on rescheduling her trip to London.
**Would you ever do a song with a member of your family? “I have! I’ve written w/ @BrendanJJohnson and @garrisoncade”
**Do you have already some tracks that you really want on the next album? “I do!”
**What’s your favorite Disney movie? “THE LITTLE MERMAID”
**Out of all your songs, is there a particular favourite that you love playing live? “Weight…”
**Ideas are being thrown around to do songs with Charlene Kaye and Misty Boyce on this tour.
**Will you ever put out an acoustic album or an acapella album one day? “I hope so!”
**She shared a room with her siblings until she was 15.
**If a fan wanted to sing with you on stage for 1 song during the Spring Tour would you let them? “Yes. It depends on the venue!”
**What’s your favorite Top 40 song at the moment? “I don’t listen to top 40 much.. I think “It’s Time” by @ImagineDragons is catchy!”
**Something you’d like to accomplish in 2013? “I’d love to get over and play some shows in Europe this summer.”
**What do you like best about living in New York? “How grounded it is! I love Brooklyn… so much music, and broke talent utilizing everyone they know to create magic. #genius”
**Her favorite Charlene Kaye song right now is “Forever Is A Long Time”
**What did you like the most about Philly? “I loved biking around and checking out all of the historic buildings with my bro @_misterjohnson”
**Any advice for someone who loves to sing but has HORRIBLE stage fright? “practice in front of your friends and family! It gets easier the more you do it… !!”
**Do you wear hats almost everyday? “In the winter either a hoody, a toque (we call them that in Canada) or ya… a hat.”
**What was the song that you wrote in the shortest time? “Skipping Stone”
**What song is the soundtrack of your life? “Right now? “Intro” by M83 on Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming”
**Will Weight of the War be on your next album? Along with Mary and River of Pain? “The strongest songs will make the cut so it’s hard to say. Some new material is shaping the album in a different direction…”
**Do you have a current favorite NEW song that you’ve written? “Careless”
**If you could have written one song by another artist, what would you choose and why? “”Have A Little Faith In Me” by John Hiatt”
**The official release date for The Basement Recordings 3 will come next week.
**Will you record with Demi Lovato? “I’d be down to write and try something out for sure!”
**Tell about your new album? “Like Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon… Stevie Nicks | I want it to be real and epic (big!) sounding, taping into the classic sounds I grew up loving so much..”
**Are you exploring new sounds in your new album? Are the songs going to be like “American Dreamer”? “The song American Dreamer has become the inspiration for the album..”
