West-coast chanteuse Alexz Johnson continues to impress, reentering our Emerging Chart this week on the sustained popularity of her February release “The Basement Recordings III”, and teaming up with US singer-songwriter Bleu for “Bottom of My Heart”, a delectable pop duet that’s just been given the full L.A. video treatment. Inspired by the movie “Drive” this classic boy-meets-girl promo features a chance motel encounter, a cool black 70s muscle car, and lots of driving, swimming and canal-side strolling in the twilight. Beautifully produced and propelled forward on the strength of a prepossesing synth line, it’s Johnson’s powerful, wide-open vocal that ultimately delivers the winning punch on this one.
