Whether you’re a new fan of Alexz or have been following her career for a long time this is an update you’re going to enjoy. She shared video from her first Showcase ever in 2005 where she performed with Brendan. These include clips of “Inconveniences”, “Chicago”, and “Taker”. I was going through old DV tapes from years ago and found this footage from my first showcase, ever…

It brought back so many memories (some emotional) of my brother Brendan and I writing in the basement (many different basements considering our parents moved so much). It also redefined this time I’m currently in now as an artist, and a woman.. “Oh ya.. this is how I got here!” Living in NYC, working on my new album and planning my next tour..

What a journey it’s been since this showcase..

We often forget all the little nuance details that lead us down the paths we choose. So many experiences, so much writing, shows, tours, growth.. So many big steel doors that close where floor to ceiling windows open. Let’s not forget the (sometimes uninvited) fearlessness to continue on this unknown, heartbreakingly beautiful road..

I’m obviously feeling very nostalgic.

This footage contains original clips of “Inconveniences”, “Chicago”, and “Taker”.. all songs written by my brother Brendan and I. Songs that started it all and propelled us further than we ever expected at the time.

I am sharing this as a thank you. Something personal from me to you that I hope you enjoy. What I really hope resonates is the mentality of never, ever giving up. It’s a journey, and you may as well let it rip you open so you have something real to leave in it’s wake.

Right now, David Kahne and I are sketching the production on the chosen album songs as well as the sound of this record.. I’m so excited to share these with you, I can’t breath! I’m learning patience. Also, some exciting potential touring possibilities in the new year have come my way… more to come!
