Inveterate UK Interview
Alexz recently got interviewed by Inveterate UK while she was on tour. Check out the interview below:
Following on from her childhood career as a young Disney starlet, Alexz Johnson has brushed her history to one side and continues to focusses on her future as a singer-songwriter.
Formerly of ‘So Weird’ and ‘Instant Star’, Johnson is now set to release her EP ‘Heart’ on February 17th, which was recorded by Grammy Award-winning producer David Kahne (Sir Paul McCartney, The Strokes).
Prior to her performance in Sheffield last night (February 5th 2014), Inveterate caught up with Alexz Johnson to discuss the new record and what people should expect to hear. You can read what she had to say below:
Hey Alexz, how are you today?
I’m great! Arrived in Sheffield this morning to play a show at Plug. It’s chilly!
Despite your love for music, you originally started as an actor for the Disney Channel. How did this come about? My first role on ‘So Weird’ (Disney), I played a musician. Music based roles, like Jude on Instant Star (TeenNick – Formerly The N), followed after that which was cool…
I started out singing and writing. Acting has been a definite plus in my career in getting my music to a broader audience.
From that, you continued with your pursuit as an actress and many may, or may not (with your hair change), recognise you for your performance in Final Destination 3. How was it shooting such graphic scenes?
It was fun!
Acting aside, you’re now primarily focussed on establishing your music career globally. Your EP ‘Heart’ is due out February 17th in the UK, what should listeners expect?
This EP/upcoming album has been some time in the making… to me, it’s the next chapter since my ‘Skipping Stone EP’. I hope is represents some strength in painful experiences and it truly is my heart in every word.
For the release you teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer David Kahne, how did he support your own development as an artist during the recording process?
Working with David was a growing experience for me. We were both quite passionate about the songs and that brought some magic as well as some difference in opinions – which lead to a really cool collaboration.
