Check out Part 1 of our In-Studio Series with Alexz Johnson where she performed an acoustic version of her song “American Dreamer.”Back when polar vortexes were still relatively new, singer-songwriter Alexz Johnson came to the CHARGED.fm offices in Brooklyn for another CHARGED.fm In-Studio Series. Most people know Johnson from her days as a teen star on the Canadian television series Instant Star. That’s where I initially knew her from since I had a sister that absolutely loved Johnson and the show when it was still on. But she is also an incredibly accomplished musician in her own right. Johnson has released a slew of EPs and albums independent of her television music, including the brand new Heart EP that was made possible through a PledgeMusic campaign.
We chatted with Alexz about a variety of things, from her move to Brooklyn to her days on Instant Star and how she has grown as an artist and musician since then. Johnson is an incredibly engaging person, and that really comes across in this interview. Check it out above!
