Alexz to Perform at SXSW in 2015

Canadian rocker Alexz Johnson has been added to the bill of SXSW 2015. The music portion of the annual festival is scheduled for March 17-22 in Austin, Texas.
Johnson, 28, is best known as an actress. Her credits include portraying Annie Thelen on the Disney Channel television series, “So Weird.” She and other members of the cast were nominated at the Young Artist Awards for Best Ensemble in a TV Series (Drama or Comedy).
She is also known for her portrayal of Jude Harrison in “Instant Star.” Johnson was honored for her performance in 2008 by the Gemini Awards for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. She had been nominated for the award in 2005 and 2007.
Her television credits are long. She also appeared in episodes of several TV series, including “The Chris Isaak Show,” “The Collector,” “Cold Squad,” “Doc,” “Smallville,” “The Listener,” and “Haven.”
In 2007, she was nominated by the Leo Awards for her portrayal of Dominique in the TV movie “Devil’s Diary.” Her other movie credits include “Reefer Madness,” “Falcon Beach,” “Selling Innocence,” “Final Destination 3,” “Stranger with My Face,” and “House of Bodies.”
While Johnson spent many of her years as an actress, her primary ambition was to be a singer. In 2010, she released her first studio album, “Voodoo.” She followed in 2012 with a live album, “Live from the Skipping Stone Tour,” before releasing another studio album in 2014, “Let ’em Eat Cake.”
She has also released a compilation of demos, “The Basement Recordings,” “The Basement Recordings 2,” and “The Basement Recordings 3.”
