Operation: Hurricane Week 5

Week 1

Week 5: This week will be something much simpler than the last two. Writing articles and making websites can be a creatively and emotionally draining, especially when it’s about something, or someone, you really care about. This week is aimed to be a more relaxing week and something that shouldn’t mess up your normal internet surfing.

If you’ve got articles written and websites done you’ll really see how this works in your stats. We’re going to be using StumbleUpon.

You may use this already, but for those that don’t here’s a brief rundown. Stumbleupon is a Web 2.0 service that lets you visit sites, in categories(like music, politics, native american culture, etc.), that you have an interest in. In order to use it, you have to install their toolbar. Right now, its ok if you don’t want to install it, I understand. I only keep 2 Toolbars on my computer myself. One being the Stumble toolbar, the other being Google’s toolbar, so I understand the reluctance to use it.

Stumbleupon uses a simple Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down rating for sites:

The more Thumbs Up a website gets the more people will see it as they hit the Stumble button(left). No Web 2.0 service does exactly what Stumbleupon does, and it’s Voter type way of prioritizing Stumbles makes it quite unique. Millions of people use this service.

I just want you guys to actively Stumble Alexz’s videos, stumble her songs, stumble clips of her acting and deleted scenes, stumble her live performances. Stumble anything and everything you can.

If you’ve got websites made and articles you wrote about her Stumble those too. It is NOT limited to just YouTube.

Stumbleupon looks for DIVERSITY in your Stumbles. So Stumbling Alexz stuff on different websites will make your Stumbles more powerful. Go to other video websites, like Metacafe, Dailymotion, Veoh, and so on. I usually Label Alexz stuff under Celebrities, Music, or Entertainment, depending on what it is.

How This Helps Alexz: Stumbleupon is lightning fast and great at putting new eyes in front of something. If they like it, they’ll give it a Thumbs up and have more people see it. Anything Alexz related will work, but it’s hard to beat seeing or hearing her in action. So if the Stumbleupon community sees her singing and acting, or hears that RIGHT song that makes them want to learn more, we’ve done our job 🙂

There’s a great line about getting traffic that applies here. “Find out where the traffic is and stand in front of it.” Which is what we’re doing. Stumbleupon has a huge population of users. If we want to get them into Alexz we have to go where they go and show them what we like.
